Born in Dear Born Michigan and raised in Colorado until she was 11 when her family moved to Alaska, Clara spent her early years reading everything she could get her hands on and writing poems, songs and short stories.
She spent many summers on her parents commercial fishing boat just outside of Petersburg Alaska, which offered hours of quiet reading and writing time.
Growing up without a television for entertainment encouraged her imagination and creativity. Ever since her earliest days, she loved story telling. It started with her first oral reading assignment where she read "Where the Wild Things Are" to her 1st grade class. Her love affair with stories had begun.
Her high school English teacher had a great impact on Clara when she required a daily journal writing for the first 15 minutes of her class. With classical music playing in the background, Clara found an outlet for her creative need and developed her writing style.
Clara attended several different colleges and Universities as she followed her husband, whose career moved them frequently. Even though she never completed her Bachelors degree, Clara holds several certificates of completion and prestigious awards in a wide variety of subjects.
At the University of Alaska Juneau campus, Clara met another extraordinary teacher when she took a Speech class. This class led to her first published work and speaking engagement with "The ABC's of CPR", which she has used several times to teach CPR classes.
Clara Rose has three grown children and is Nana to six wonderful grandchildren. She currently lives in Florida with her best friend and husband Larry and their cat Tipper.
